We have seen how in few years Xiaomi has become favorites of many by manufacturing quality products at a budget friendly price. Among the wide range of products that it delivers to the users globally, it’s their smartphones that has turned out as the most profitable product for them. Almost with every launch they have managed to create that positive hype for their amazing products.
This time they have brought us the next level of budget friendly smartphone with specs that one can find only inside a premium device. The Pocophone F1, you must have heard the name already. A flagship killer smartphone at just ₹ 20,999. Read the article below to know the complete phone specification.
Xiaomi, the china based electronic company has been leading the Asian smartphone market for quite a while now. Their smartphone devices are mostly known for offering a solid specs device at a budget price. Pick any recently launched Xiaomi smartphone, be it Redmi note 5 pro, Mi A2 or Redmi Note 6 each of them have been pretty decent phone at an amazing price. And if you’re one of those who always look for a device with high-end specs at a meaningful price with a trust factor attached with it then Xiaomi is the name that will always comes in your list. Recently, the company has launched their next smartphone series by the name Pocophone F1. The device is more focused on providing top-notch features but with even less price. It has certainly managed to steal the spotlight from one of top smartphone right now in the market the OnePlus 6 with its unbelievable price. It comes packed with high end Snapdragon 845 chip with an impressive 4000 mAH battery, which earlier one can found only with a premium device. Let us see what make this device a flagship-killer killer.
What amazing about Pocophone F1 is that it’s offering the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset which one can found only a in premium device like Samsung Note 9, Huawei P20 pro or OnePlus 6. It also come packed with an octa core CPU providing a 2.8 GHz of processing speed. With Pocophone F1 users can get their hands on a device which also offers a liquid cooling system along with Adreno 630 GPU. This means smooth gaming experience without worrying about device being heated up. However, its still debatable how effective this liquid cooling technology going to be for a smartphone. But one can’t really complain of getting an extra feature with such a price range.
Design and Display
For a phone with high-end specs at such unbelievable price there are areas where cost cutting needs to be done. And considering it is a smartphone with a starting price of just ₹ 20,999 in India with some spectacular specification.
This is why unlike other premium phones where you can’t find mostly glass. Xiaomi Pocophone F1 instead offers mostly a plastic body with slight matte finish at back and corning gorilla glass 3. However to get the elegant look, you do can purchase a variant made up of Aramid Kevlar Fiber which will cost you ₹ 29,999. Other color variant that you can pick are Red, Grey and Blue. Overall, it’s a great phone to hold as one can’t find any weird curves and sharp edges in the device.
Like it or not, in order to keep a smartphone price low, the display is another area where the user has to compromise a little bit. This is exactly what Pocophone F1 does, it comes with an LCD IPS screen panel of 6.18 inches. It offers decent color reproduction for both gaming and viewing photos and videos.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi stick with the same notch design which is considerably bigger than even iPhone X. The bezel in the bottom of the chin is also oddly thicker than any other phone with notch.
Overall, I would say Pocofone F1 plastic body and LCD display isn’t really what makes me skeptical about the phone. Rather, keeping in mind the dent factor which one can hardly avoid in a smartphone. The plastic body can really proved out to be cost effective as it can be easily replaced.
Camera and Battery
Nothing too much exciting about the Pocophone F1 camera, it consists of a regular dual pixel camera. The primary camera on Poco F1 has a 12 MP sensor with F/1.9 aperture. It offers a pixel size of 1.4 micron which uses dual pixel technology for auto focus. On the other hand the secondary camera is of 5 MP with F/2.0 aperture. It is used for sensing the depth information for portrait shots The selfie camera has been as impressive as the primary cameras. It offers a 20 MP sensor with F/2.0 aperture and a pixel size of 0.9 micron.
Sadly, you don’t get optical image stabilization and also only 1080 p at 30 fps gets EIS. However, definitely not a thing that you need to be really worry about. It works fine in the day light, launches fast, quick focus and it brings with it Dual-LED flash which does a pretty decent job for low-light snaps. Also, you get the AI feature in the camera which change the camera settings accordingly for different scenes this will help you get better images.
Now the battery, this is another area where Xiaomi amazed us. Pocophone F1 comes with a powerful 4000 mAH battery which is equivalent to what Samsung Note 9 is offering to their user. It is simply unstoppable, even with a heavy usage it can last almost a day. The device brings with a USB Type C along with Quick charge feature which proves out to be icing in the cake.
Software Specification and other features
Xiaomi Pocophone F1 comes with the tagline “Master of Speed”. With the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip, 6 GB of RAM along with 64 GB ROM it certainly justifies the statement. The other device variants goes up to 8 GB RAM and 256 GB of ROM. The hybrid dual SIM tray let you increase the storage options which can always proves out to be a plus point.
Powerful hardware means nothing if the software working on it is not good enough. Xiaomi Pocophone F1 did a pretty impressive job in this department as well. It comes with the latest version of Xiaomi skin MI 10 along over the OS Android 8.1 (Oreo). Not as good as stock android experience, but it is definitely clean and easy to use.
Other noticeable feature that you can find are 3.5 mm headphone jack, stereo speakers, infrared front camera for face unlock and quick charging. Features that the device lacking are wireless charging and NFC. Finger print has been rock solid which is placed in its rightful place i.e. at the back below the camera. Still it would have been amazing to find in-display finger print option, maybe in the future though. Remember the days when OnePlus launched their first smartphone. They basically fit in as many high-end specs and kept the price as low as possible. The device proved out to be favorites of many later. It not only succeeded to grab attention of the consumers but also earned a pretty remarkable profit.
Now as far as Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is consider it is somehow doing the same thing. Introduced a base model with high-end specs like snapdragon 845 chip and 6 GB of ram and powered with 4000 mAH battery and it all cost just ₹ 20,999. This is why it has manage to create all that hype. One may say it copies many high-end specs from other devices, but as long as it doesn’t bother consumer pocket, it surely can succeed in the market.
It definitely does the needful cost cutting by using plastic body, an LCD display and the average quality audio and speaker.
However, if you’re more interested in speed and performance of the phone those are things that you will hardly consider. As been discussed already, the top-notch features that one gets with Poco F1. There are some other specs like AI based camera and the liquid cooling technology for intensive gaming experience which will definitely excites you.
Other than that, unlike premium device like iPhone X, Oppo Find X where you just get the face unlock option. With Poco F1 one get extensive security options which include setting a PIN, adding a fingerprint or using Face unlock. Also, no need to buy any case or skin as it is pretty elegant and hardly get any fingerprints.
Now that we are talking about a flagship phone under a mid-range price. It is also important to list out what are the other options that one can pick under same price range.
Since the time of its arrival Pocophone has been viewed as a strong competitor for OnePlus 6. However, if you really compared them on the basis of that particular price range then it can’t be placed on the same league. On the contrary two name that fall into the same price slot can be the Oppo F9 Pro and Vivo V11 Pro.
Check out the image below to have an idea that where all three of them stands when compared with each other.
